Píši Vám, abych vyjádřila své znepokojení nad událostmi kolem centra Společnou cestou v Praze 11, a abych vyjádřila podporu pro práci centra s rodinami bez domova.
Přátelé z Českobratrské církve evangelické v Praze 11, sboru Milíče z Kroměříže, mě informovali o tom, že Rada Prahy 11 ukončila centru Společnou cestou pronájem.
Podporuji centrum Společnou cestou od počátku jejich působení a vím kolik obětavé práce bylo vloženo do jejího rozvíjení. Prahu jsem navštívila několikrát a byla jsem velmi překvapena ideály, které tato iniciativa obsahuje.
Centrum Společnou cestou je unikátní projekt, protože je pečováno o rodiny bez domova, zejména matky s malými dětmi a romské rodiny tak, aby byli schopny se integrovat ve společnosti. Za pozoruhodné považuji nejen práci centra, které poskytuje ubytování a právní poradnu, ale take spolupráci centra Společnou cestou a sboru Českobratrské církve evangelické, což jejich práci dává zvláštní rozměr a usměrňuje jí.
Místní rady v demokratické společnosti obvykle vítají a podporují práci organizací, které pečují o sociálně slabší. Je těžké rozumět krokům Rady Prahy 11. Poškodí nejen potřebné ve Vašem městě, ale též pověst Vašeho města, které se jeví jako nepřátelské vůči sociální práci NGO a práci církve.
Pane Béme, naléhavě Vás žádám, abyste znovu zvážil rozhodnutí ukončit činnost centra Společnou cestou a abyste práci centra plně podpořil.

I am writing to you to express my concern for the Walking Together Centre - SPOLEČNOU CESTOU in Prague 11 and to support the work of the Centre for homeless families.
Our friends from the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Prague 11, the congregation of Milic von Cremsir, have informed me about the termination of the lease for the Walking Together Centre by the Prague 11 Council.
I have supported the Walking Together Centre from its inception, knowing some of the hard work that went into promoting it. I have visited Prague several times, and been much taken with the ideals behind this initiative.
The Walking Together Centre is a unique project that cares for homeless families, mainly mothers with small children and Roma families, so that they will be able to integrate in society. What I find quite remarkable is not only the work of the Centre, which provides accommodation and legal advice, but also the cooperation between the Walking Together Centre and the congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren which gives their work a special dimension and guaranties the focus of the work.
Local councils in a democratic society normally welcome and support the work of an organisation that cares for the underprivileged. It is hard to understand the measures the Prague 11 Council has taken. They will bring dire consequences not only for those in need in your city, but also for the image of the city appearing to be hostile towards NGO social work and the work of churches.
Mr Bem, we ask you urgently to reconsider the decision to close the Walking Together Centre and to give your full support to the work of the centre.
