Vážený pane Béme,
Obracíme se na Vás jako primátora hlavního města Prahy, abychom vyjádřili své znepokojení nad plánovaným ukončením práce centra Společnou cestou v Praze 11 a abychom práci centra s rodinami bez domova podpořili.
V listopadu 2004 jsme Prahu navštívili ještě s dalšími dvěma lidmi ze Skotska. Při této příležitosti jsme byli centrem provedeni. Zúčastnili jsme se též bohoslužeb, které měl v té době sbor Českobratrské církve evangelické v centru, protože jejich kostel byl ve výstavbě. Od té doby jsme dostávali pravidelné informace o tom, jak práce pokračuje a byli jsme tak našimi českými přáteli informováni o plánovaném ukončení činnosti centra místni radou.
Tak jak jsme tomu tehdy rozuměli a jak to chápeme i nyní, centrum Společnou cestou je unikátní projekt tím, že je pomáháno rodinám bez domova, často romského původu, se znovu integrovat do společnosti. Jak jistě víte, tento projekt je podporován místním sborem Českobratrské církve evangelické, čímž je zajištěna trvalost a hloubka osobní péče, která je při této práci velmi důležitá a kterou jsou místní farnosti zvláště schopny poskytovat.
Máme s takovou prací vlastní zkušenosti u nás v Glasgowě a jsme si jisti, že pokud místní rada uzná za vhodné své rozhodnutí ukončit činnost centra přehodnotit, bude jejich práce, kterou odvádějí za podpory sboru Českobratrské církve evangelické pokračovat a bude hodnotným příspěvkem pražské společnosti.
Uctivě a naléhavě Vás proto žádáme, abyste znovu zvážil, zda práci centra Společnou cestou ukončit a abyste mu dal plnou podporu městské rady.

Dear Mr.Bem,
We are writing to you in your capacity as Mayor of the City of Prague, to express our concern at the proposed closure of the Walking Together Centre - SPOLECNOU CESTOU - Prague 11, and in support of the work of the Centre with homeless families.
In November 2004, we visited Prague with two others from Scotland, and were shown round the Centre, and worshipped with the congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, who were at that time worshipping in the Centre while their new church was being built. We have since been kept up-to-date with the developments there, and hence were recently informed, by our Czech friends, of the proposed closure by the Council.
As we saw then, and as we understand is still the case, the Walking Together Centre is a unique project, helping homeless families, often from a Roma background, to integrate into society. As you will be aware, this project is supported by the local congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, thus ensuring sustainability and a depth of personal care which is so important for this sort of work, and which local church congregations are so uniquely placed to offer.
We speak also out of our own experience of this sort of work here in Glasgow; and we feel sure that, should the Council see fit to reconsider its decision to close the Centre, the work that the Centre undertakes, with the support of the congregation, will continue to make a valuable contribution to Prague society.
We would therefore respectfully ask you urgently to reconsider the decision to close the Walking Together Centre, and to continue to give the full support of the Council to its work.
