Obracíme se na Vás, abychom vyjádřili starost o budoucnost centra SPOLEČNOU CESTOU v Praze 11, které odvádí neocenitelnou práci pro rodiny bez domova.
Naši přátelé ze sboru Milíče z Kroměříže Českobratrské církve evangelické nás informovali o ukončení pronájmu centru Společnou cestou Místní radou Prahy 11.
Pomocí blízkých přátel v Českobratrské církvi evangelické na Jižním Městě jsme aktivně sledovali práci centra Společnou cestou od samého začátku jeho působení. Společnou cestou je unikátní projekt, který pečuje o rodiny bez domova (zejména matky s malými dětmi a romské rodiny), aby byly schopné se znovu integrovat ve společnosti. Ceníme si zvláště spolupráce centra Společnou cestou a sboru Českobratrské církve evangelické, což jejich práci dává specifický rozměr a usměrňuje ji.
Místní rady v demokratické společnosti obvykle vítají a podporují práci organizace, která pečuje o sociálně slabší a nabízí právnickou poradnu těm, kteří jsou vykořeněni. Za těchto okolností je nevysvětlitelné, že Rada Prahy 11 ukončuje pronájem budov, které byly specielně zrekonstruované. Zavření střediska poškodí lidi v nouzi, kterým slouží, take však, což je pro Místní radu závažnější, poškodí pověst Magistrátu hlavního města Prahy nejen v České republice, ale i za hranicemi, protože se jeví jako nepřátelské vůči práci církve a
nevládních organizací.
Pane Béme, naléhavě Vás žádáme, abyste znovu zvážil rozhodnutí ukončit činnost centra Společnou cestou a abyste práci centra plně podpořil.

Dear Mr Bem, Mayor of the City of Prague,
We are writing to you to express our concern for the future of the Walking Together Centre - SPOLEČNOU CESTOU - in Prague 11, in its invaluable work as a centre for homeless families.
Our friends from the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Prague 11, the congregation of Milic von Cremsir, have informed us about the termination of the lease for the Walking Together Centre by the Prague 11 Council.
We have taken an active interest in the work of the Walking Together Centre since its inception, through our close friends in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Prague - the Southern City. The Walking Together Centre is a unique project that cares for homeless families (mainly mothers with small children and Roma families) so that they will be able to integrate back into society. What we value as unique in this project is the cooperation between the Walking Together Centre and the congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, which gives their work a special dimension and guaranties the focus of the work.
Local councils in a democratic society normally welcome and support the work of an organisation that cares for the underprivileged and offers legal advice to the dispossessed. In the circumstances, the decision of the Prague 11 Council to terminate the lease on the specially-adapted building is inexplicable. Closure of the Centre will have severe consequences for the needy people whom it serves; but also - and possibly more seriously for the Council - will damage the image of the Prague City Council in the Czech Republic and even farther afield because of the implied hostility to the work of churches and NGOs.
Mr Bem, we ask you urgently to reconsider the decision to close the Walking Together Centre, and to give your full support to the work of the Centre.
